Everything the diary does

Algia is a diary for pain. It records where it hurts, how much, and how the day went, and it turns that into something you can read back and bring to a consultation. Nothing more, and nothing less.

Quick and detailed entries

On a bad day an entry is a score from 0 to 10 and a tap on the body map. On a day that allows it, you add how you slept, your mood, your activity and your fatigue, each on a short scale, and a few lines of text. Both are the same entry; the detail is optional.

The body map

A drawn outline, front and back, divided into regions you can tap. Each region can carry its own score, a word for the kind of pain (aching, burning, stabbing, tingling, cramping, throbbing, numb) and where it radiates to. The list beside the map says the same in words, so the map is never the only way in.

The diary

Entries are listed by day, newest first, with the score, the regions and the first line of your notes. An entry can be corrected, and the diary marks it as corrected. It can be deleted and brought back within ninety days. An entry recorded after the moment it describes is marked as noted later.

Charts

Your scores drawn over four weeks, three months, six months or a year, with the regions you recorded most often and, on Plus, the four questions beside the score. The charts describe what you recorded. They draw no conclusion, name no cause and suggest nothing.

The summary for a consultation

Choose a period and download a summary: the scores, the regions, the answers to the four questions and your notes, laid out to be read in a few minutes. Free includes one summary a calendar month; Plus has no limit. The full export of all your data is always free.

The export screen: a summary for a consultation over a chosen period, and the full export. Shown on a laptop.

Medication and reminders

Keep your own list of what you take, with the times you want a reminder. The reminder arrives on your phone or laptop at that minute and names nothing; one tap answers it. Free holds two active medications, Plus has no limit. Algia never suggests, changes or judges what is on the list.

The library

Short, sourced entries on keeping a diary, talking with a clinician, sleep and rest, pacing the day, pain scales and travelling with pain. Each names its source and the date it was checked. You browse by topic; nothing is ever chosen for you from your own data.

Three languages, every device

Dutch, English and French, switchable at any moment. Algia runs in the browser on a phone, a tablet and a laptop, works with a keyboard and a screen reader, and meets WCAG 2.2 AA. There is nothing to install.

Your own data, through a personal API

On Plus, your own scripts and tools can read your diary with a personal key you create and revoke yourself. The API offers the same data as the export, in a form a program can use.
